How many marks do you need on the final — with your internal marks weighted in?

clearmark takes your internal/CA marks, the component weightages and a pass or target percentage, and tells you the exact raw marks you still need on the final exam — or says honestly when the target is out of reach.

The naive answer, then the real one

“How many marks to pass out of 80?” If the paper were your whole grade, 33% of 80 is 26.4, so you would need 2780. But Indian courses weight internals in. With 16/20 internal at weight 20 and an 80-mark exam at weight 80, aiming for 33% overall, you have already banked 16 points — so you only need 1780 on the final. That weighted split is the thing a search snippet cannot compute; clearmark can.

How the weighted split works

Each component banks (score ÷ max) × weight percentage points. The remainder to your target is turned into raw marks: (target − earned) ÷ exam weight × exam max, rounded up to the mark step (1 or ½). Where a board sets a separate theory-paper minimum (e.g. CBSE 33% on the paper itself), clearmark computes that too and tells you which rule binds.

Cited pass-mark defaults

Two clause-cited presets ship as starting points — CBSE 33% (CBSE Examination Bye-Laws) and a University 40% common norm (a named university ordinance) — each shown with its source and a verified-on date. They are defaults, not authority: verify against your own prospectus or ordinance, and edit the copy if your rule differs.
