How much rice for 100 people? Get the whole feast in kilograms.
dawatlist turns a guest count and a menu into raw-material quantities — kilograms of rice, dal, oil, paneer and more — with an editable buffer, optional ₹ prices, and a printable market shopping list. Built for families self-catering a wedding, volunteers running a bhandara or langar, and small home caterers pricing a dawat.
How the calculation works
For each item: base = guests × portion, then a spare-food
buffer is added and the result is rounded up to a
purchasable step (100 g / 250 g / 500 g / 1 kg) so you never under-buy.
Worked example — rice for 100 people: 100 guests × 100 g =
10 kg; +10% buffer = 11 kg; rounded up to the nearest
0.5 kg = 11.0 kg. At ₹62/kg that line costs
₹682.00.
Starting portions (per person, raw) — ranges, not rules
| Item | Range (g/person) | For 100 people |
|---|---|---|
| Rice (raw) | 80–120 g | 8–12 kg |
| Atta / wheat flour | 60–100 g | 6–10 kg |
| Toor / chana dal | 20–35 g | 2–3.5 kg |
| Cooking oil | 10–20 g | 1–2 kg |
| Paneer | 25–50 g | 2.5–5 kg |
| Mixed vegetables | 100–150 g | 10–15 kg |
These are editable presets shown as ranges — starting points for a rice-main feast, not authoritative numbers. They ship labelled “preset (uncited) — edit to taste”; appetite varies with region, season and how many dishes share the plate. Quantities are raw purchase weights, not cooked yields. Not a food-safety or catering-compliance tool.
