The paper diary
Ruled register, one line per customer, a stroke a day. Get one skip-day wrong and the whole column is off. Ink smudges; the book gets wet in the monsoon.
For milk · newspaper · water-can vendors
The quantity changes every morning. Someone skips Sunday, someone takes two litres on Thursday. By the 1st, the bill is a guess — and the argument at the gate is real. DoodhBook keeps the daily tally for every customer and adds it up for you.

The 1st-of-the-month problem
Ruled register, one line per customer, a stroke a day. Get one skip-day wrong and the whole column is off. Ink smudges; the book gets wet in the monsoon.
"Aaj do packet." "Kal band rakhna." Thirty chats, no running total. Come billing day you scroll through a month of messages to reconstruct what was actually delivered.
The rest lives in your head across 80 houses. When a customer says "I only took 20 days, not 26," you have nothing to show. You round down, you eat the loss.
Multiply small errors across every flat and every day: a vendor doing 80 customers loses Rs 3,000–6,000 a month to under-billing and disputes they can't win.
The wedge
A tiffin plan is one fixed number a month. This isn't that. The quantity moves every single day — and skip-days break the sum. So we keep a per-customer daily ledger, and let the month add itself up.
Get the daily count right, and the monthly bill is no longer an argument. It's arithmetic.
How it works
Sharma ji takes 1 litre of full-cream, every day, at Rs 62. Add it once — that's the
default_qty DoodhBook assumes for tomorrow and every morning after.
Two packets today? Tap +1. Family's out of town till Monday? Mark skip. Holiday for the whole line? One tap. Everything else stays at the default.
Every delivery is qty × rate, summed per product, per customer, as you
go. Month-to-date value is always current — no reconstruction on the 1st.
An itemised bill — days delivered, days skipped, total — lands in your outbox ready to send. The customer sees the same numbers you do. Dispute over.
What's inside
A default quantity with per-day overrides and skip/holiday days — the diary column, but it never adds up wrong.
Sum of qty × rate per product, per customer. The total is done the moment the month ends.
One screen for the morning round, grouped by colony and lane so you move house to house without backtracking.
Itemised bill and a gentle payment nudge queued up per customer — send the batch in one go.
Deliveries done today, month-to-date value, and who your biggest accounts are — at a glance.
Different rates, different units — litres, copies, cans — on the same customer, same monthly bill.

Who it's for
Questions
No. Subscription apps assume a fixed monthly quantity. DoodhBook is built for the opposite: the count changes every day and people skip days. That daily variation is the whole point — it's what makes month-end tallying hard, and what we solve.
If you can send a WhatsApp, you can run DoodhBook. Set a customer's default once, then it's just taps on your route — plus one, or skip. The bill builds itself; you never do the maths.
The round works offline. Mark deliveries in the basement or the lift lobby with no network, and it syncs the moment you're back on data. Nothing gets lost.
Pricing is worked out on a quick discovery call and billed monthly on subscription. We're keeping public prices off the page while we onboard our first users.
Bill your first customer from a ledger that adds up.
