How the monthly math works
Monthly trips = trips per day × commute days. Monthly km = trips ×
distance. Fuel = km × price ÷ efficiency; the car's cost adds
parking plus insurance ÷ 12 and maintenance ÷ 12.
Cab = fare × trips. Metro/bus = fare × trips, capped by a
monthly pass when the pass is cheaper.
A worked example
A 12 km commute, 2 trips a day, 22 days a month at ₹100/L and
15 km/L, with ₹1,000 parking and ₹12,000/yr each for insurance and
maintenance, comes to ₹6,520/mo to drive. Cabs at ₹180/trip are
₹7,920/mo; a ₹1,000 metro pass is ₹1,000/mo. The
metro wins — you'd save ₹6,920/mo (₹83,040/yr) versus cabs.
What it does not do
Fares are averages you enter — no surge or live pricing. It weighs rupees, not minutes. It assumes you already own the vehicle (no purchase, EMI or depreciation). Currency is a label only — no exchange-rate conversion.
