How is in-hand salary calculated from CTC in India?

In-hand = monthly gross cash minus your statutory deductions. From CTC you first remove employer costs that are not cash to you (employer EPF and gratuity accrual). The remaining cash is basic, HRA and allowances; from that you subtract your own EPF (12% of basic), professional tax, and monthly TDS (annual income tax divided by 12). inhand shows every line with the rule behind it.

What tax year does this calculator use?

AY 2026-27 (FY 2025-26) only, dated on screen. It models both the new regime (default) and the old regime, including the Section 87A rebate, standard deduction, surcharge with marginal relief, and 4% cess. Other years are not modelled.

Does inhand send my salary anywhere?

Accepted Answer

No. The page's Content-Security-Policy sets connect-src to 'none', so the browser itself blocks every network request. The salary you type physically cannot leave your device. Saved offers live only in this browser's localStorage; the CSV and print exports are your only backup.

Why does my payslip differ from this estimate?

inhand is an estimate, not a payslip. Employer CTC structures vary, TDS is shown as annual tax divided by 12 rather than the exact Section-192 month-by-month computation, and professional-tax slabs change by state. Edit the components to match your offer letter and verify against your first payslip.
