How does pricebook decide which option is cheapest?

It converts every option to a common basis before comparing. Weights normalise to price per 100 g, volumes to price per litre, and countable items to price per each. So 500 g at 100 (20 per 100 g) is correctly flagged as more expensive than 1 kg at 180 (18 per 100 g), even though the larger pack has the bigger sticker price.

Can I mix grams and kilograms, or millilitres and litres?

Yes. Options in the same family are converted to one base unit first: grams and kilograms both become grams, millilitres and litres both become millilitres. 0.5 kg at 100 and 500 g at 100 give the exact same unit price. pricebook will not compare a weight against a volume, because that would be meaningless.

Is this a live price feed or scraped from stores?

Accepted Answer

No. pricebook shows only prices you type in yourself. There is no crowd data, no scraping, and no network of any kind — a strict Content-Security-Policy blocks all connections. It simply does the unit-price arithmetic for you and remembers what you logged, entirely on your own device.
