Shagun list format for marriage — a give-and-return register you keep forever

shagunbook is a local-first digital Vyavahar Book (the family's Red Notebook): it logs shagun given and received, in both directions, across every event and every year — so you can reciprocate to match custom, and print a durable family register that outlives the paper bahi.

The vyavahar / neota register format

For each family you record the gift — a cash amount in ₹ or an in-kind item — the occasion and its date, and the direction: received at an event you hosted, or given at a family's event you attended. Regional keepers can label families shagun, neota, chandlo, vyavhar, or moy — the same custom under different names.

How the give-and-return math works

For each family, shagunbook sums received and given (cash, per currency) and shows the plain difference. Worked example — the Sharma family, 1998→2023: received ₹5,601, given ₹3,200, difference +₹2,401 over 24 years. That difference is a neutral memory aid, not a debt. In-kind gifts are counted separately and never valued.

Gift custom, never a dues book

shagunbook never says “owed”, “due”, “balance”, or “settle”, and never tells you what to give — it surfaces the facts and you decide. It does not adjust for inflation, sync to any cloud, or touch your contacts.

Local-first & durable — built for decades

Your register is a SQLite file on your own machine; the full app runs on localhost. One-tap Export / Import makes backup the point, not a footnote. Unlike cloud guest-manager apps such as Nyota, nothing leaves your device. This web demo stores nothing server-side.
