Quote vs final bill tracker — see which repair jobs you under-quote, and how often those quotes are accepted

takhmeena is for the owner of a family repair shop or garage — cycle, two-wheeler, appliance, mobile — who quotes a price out loud twenty times a day and finds out at the end of the month that some kinds of work never quite pay.

Entry is a shutter-down job: at close, the day's jobs get one line each, from memory and the bill book. Nothing is asked of you while a customer is standing there. Once a month you print one A4 sheet.

What you record, and what it prints

For every job you quoted: the number you remember quoting, what happened to it — won, lost or walked away — and, if you won it, what the final bill actually said. Tagged by your own job types, which you name yourself.

A worked example

Nine brake jobs won and one lost. The quotes and the bills, in rupees: 1,200→1,400, 1,500→1,750, 1,000→1,180, 1,800→2,000, 1,300→1,520, 1,100→1,320, 1,600→1,760, 1,400→1,640, 1,250→1,450.

Job typeAccepted — won ÷ decided · won ÷ all quotesMedian gap (billed − quoted), won jobs only
Brake job90.00% of decided · 90.00% of all quotes+₹200.00 (+16.67%)
Engine work30.00% of decided · 30.00% of all quotes−₹80.00 (−2.00%)
Puncture2 of 4 decided · 1 walked away— n=2 won, too few to show a gap

The acceptance column always prints both denominators or neither — a single percentage is never shown on its own, because reading whichever one survived a suppression is exactly the selection problem the pair exists to close. On the brake row the two rates are equal because no brake customer walked away. On the puncture row neither is printed: four decided quotes is under the minimum, so the raw fraction prints instead.

Read the two columns together. Brake jobs are won almost every time and the bill lands ₹200 above the quote — which may simply mean they are quoted low. Engine work is won three times in ten and bills slightly under. takhmeena prints no verdict about either. The puncture row prints a dash, because two won jobs are not enough to call anything typical.

What the sheet refuses to print

If almost every quote in a month is recorded as won, takhmeena prints no acceptance rate at all — only the raw counts, and a line saying why. Lost and walked-away jobs are the ones with no bill book behind them, so they are the ones most likely never to get typed in at close, and a job that was never entered is missing from both denominators equally. No ratio can detect that from the inside, so the sheet declines to print one.

Why the third outcome is the whole point

A sheet that only knows the jobs you won is a mirror. Every job you lost because the quote was too high is invisible to the gap column, so a won-jobs-only "you under-quote by ₹200" is wrong in one direction by construction. That is why walked-away jobs get their own column and the acceptance rate is printed over two denominators — won ÷ (won + lost) and won ÷ (won + lost + walked away) — never one alone.

What it will not do

No invoices, estimates or receipts. No credit, udhaar or dues ledger of any kind. No staff or per-mechanic performance. No parts, stock or costs. No suggested prices, no forecasts, no targets. No accounts, no sync, no sharing between shops, and no internet at runtime. takhmeena ships zero facts: every number on every screen is one you typed, and the starter job types are examples of tagging, not a standard.
